Selecting the Right Components for Tarpaulin Hardware

In tarpaulin systems, many of the factors that define performance start on the hardware side. The right selection improves load security and extends the tarpaulin’s service life in real field conditions.

Truck Hook: The Load Transfer Point

The truck hook is the component that directly carries the tensioning force. For this reason, selection should be based not only on dimensions, but primarily on material and strength criteria.

Key Considerations

  • Material and coating: In lines with high corrosion risk, an appropriate protective coating should be preferred.

  • Geometry and installation compatibility: A hook that is not compatible with the tarpaulin system and connection point may change its angle under load and cause loosening.

  • Repeatable quality: Variations in dimensions and mechanical strength between production batches translate into inconsistent field performance.

Tarpaulin Corner Protector: Critical Protection Against Tearing

Corners are among the areas exposed to the highest levels of abrasion and impact loads. A corner protector distributes these loads, protects the tarpaulin edge, and reduces the risk of tearing.

Key Considerations

  • Edge protection and contact surface: Corner protectors with sharp edges can create a cutting effect instead of providing protection.

  • Abrasion resistance: Under field vibration and moving loads, wear accelerates; therefore, material quality is a decisive factor.

  • Installation standard: Incorrect hole punching or an incorrect installation angle weakens the protector’s function.
